The story of the "water crisis" in Flint, Michigan is a tragic one. Long story short, the water supply in the city is contaminated, very unhealthy for the consumers, and there has not been much done about resolving the crisis until  now.

An article released on PR Daily stated that large corporations, celebrities and politicians are making a change and helping put water back in Flint. It is very unfortunate that the city has been suffering, and lacking basic resources for some time. The power of social media is something to deeply consider in the case of the water crisis in Flint. Before citizens posted videos of the contaminated water, that went viral on social media, there had been no apparent concern about to state of the water, or the citizens.

The story of Flint ties back to public relations in several ways. Brand managers of large corporations have contributed to the crisis. The article reported that “Walmart, Coca-Cola, Nestle and PepsiCo formed a coalition to provide bottled water to the city’s school kids for the entire year. The companies plan to donate 6.5 millions of bottled water.” The large companies contributing to the crisis is a great way for brands to positively gain attention in the media, unlike Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz.  Unfortunately Cruz donated bottled water, but to anti-abortion groups.

On a brighter and smarter note, thumbs up to the corporation and celebrities, like Hip-Hop artists Big Sean and Eminem, who listened to their even smarter  publicist and donated over $300,000 to the city.
